* Counselling in Sleaford *

Hello, I’m Joanne and welcome to JWM Counselling.

Are you struggling with feeling like you don’t matter?  Do you find it really difficult to say no?  Do you feel you have to manage everything on your own and shouldn’t need to ask for help? Are you tired of repeating the same mistakes in your relationships?

I appreciate that making the decision to have counselling can be a hard and daunting one, especially if it is for the first time.  Sometimes it is making the decision that can be the hardest part, especially when it can feel that there is still so much stigma and judgement out there about it.

Often difficult childhood experiences such as childhood emotional abuse or neglect can make asking for help even harder.  It can leave people with a sense of aloneness, frustration and powerlessness. A feeling of not being good enough and of never being seen or heard.  Managing difficult and painful feelings can feel really frightening and overwhelming if there has been no modelling for how to do it.

I can help people to manage these difficult and overwhelming feelings and help them identify where they come from, in a safe and supportive way.  I can help people to find their own strength and inner resources and a sense of self-worth.  The benefits of this is that people can have a much clearer sense of what they want out of life and can improve their relationships with the people around them as well as create relationships that feel nourishing and supportive rather than draining and full of conflict.  Ultimately this can bring more peace and joy into people’s lives.

I have specialist experience of working with bereavement and loss and I also have a special interest in working with Highly Sensitive People.  I can support people experiencing specific issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and relationship issues.

I offer confidential, individual counselling to young people, adults and older people.  I run my private practice from home in Sleaford. I also offer telephone or online appointments.

“From the very first hours of our lives right through to our last moment, kindness, gentleness, warmth and compassion are the things that can sustain us and help us bear the setbacks, tragedies and suffering that life will rain on us.
